Before I teach you how to build a wardrobe, I feel that it is even more important to teach you the importance/benefits of looking good! Just like with everything else, there is also a purpose/reason behind looking good and dressing well!
First and foremost, when you look good, you feel good! Imagine this…Your hair is freshly done, eyebrows are perfect, nails are freshly polished, and you’re rocking one of your favorite outfits. You probably feel like you’re on top of the world. Now, imagine…Your hair isn’t looking it’s best, your eyebrows are a little “fuzzy”, your polish has grown halfway down your nails, and you’re wearing sweats because you just don’t feel your best. We’ve all been in both scenarios. Which do you feel more confident in? I will be the first to say that I feel more confident when I’m looking my best. When I look good, I even feel like I’m in an overall better mood.
Secondly, first impressions are everything. While out, you never know who you will run into or what opportunity you may be presented with. I’m sure that you have heard the phrase “Stay ready so that you don’t have to get ready.” Have there been any times where you have been out, not looking your best, ran into someone and wished that you’d put a little more effort into your look? I have. There have been a few occasions where I have been out (looking rough) and someone recognized me from by style blog. I can honestly say that I was a little embarrassed. Especially because it was my first time ever meeting those individuals. I’m not saying that we have to look perfect every single day, as that isn’t realistic for most. What I am saying is that we should make sure that we at least put some effort into our presentation. In this day and age, it’s possible to look good in sweats!
Lastly, you can be creative and show your personality by dressing in what makes YOU feel good. One of the best things about fashion is there are no rules (unless you are in certain work scenarios). For the most part, we are able to express our personality through our dress. You have the option to dress exactly like who you want to be. Also, remember to “dress how you want to be addressed.”
There are more benefits of dressing well but hopefully these few are enough to encourage you to dress your best!
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be teaching you how to build a wardrobe so that you can feel more confident, make good first impressions, and of course show your own personality. I will also be going through a workbook with you that I created to help you with the entire “How to Build Your Wardrobe” process. I’ll be sharing my own personal journey of building my wardrobe as well. Here is a sneak peek of the workbook. Sign up below to receive a copy of your very own workbook so that you can start to feel even more confident within your wardrobe.
